Starting Pitcher Streamers 4/22-4/28

Michael Simione breaks down all the pitching streamers that you need to know for this weeks slate of games.

For some reason a couple of months ago I had an epiphany. I’m trying to be more unapologetically me. When I am around most people (not family or close friends) I am slightly an introvert and don’t openly speak about my interests and whatnot. Usually, because I think most people will think I am weird etc. But I started to realize the more I was outgoing and being me and bringing up my interests the more I realized there are a lot of people out there like me. So for those of you who think you have a weird personality or weird sense of humor or even weird interests like I do, just let it out you will be better for it. You will realize just because you are a bit odd or like to read comics as an adult it doesn’t mean people won’t still love you.

Christopher Sanchez had quite the start against the Rockies. I know it is the Rockies on the road but my goodness. He pitched six scoreless innings while racking up 10 strikeouts. His changeup worked really well here as it was showing an increase in horizontal movement. He had a total of 17 whiffs in this start. He now has a K% over 27% for the season, not something I was expecting.

For those who don’t know, K% and SwStr% correlate well together. So here are some pitchers whose K% should rise based on their SwStr%:

Nathan Eovaldi

Pablo Lopez

Ryan Feltner

Jesus Luzardo

Tyler Anderson

Joe Musgrove

The Chart

The amazing, fantastic, beautiful streamer chart is back! Unfortunately, Substack won’t let you just post a table here. Dumb. So again the format is now going to shift slightly. It is very difficult to post it as a picture in here and it look appealing. So for now we are going to drop a link in here so you can look through the days.

Monday 4/22

Streamer of the Day

It is very hard to not stream against the White Sox whenever it is possible. Chris Paddack draws the matchup against them and it is a no-brainer. They have a 66 wRC+ against RHP and a 41 wRC+ in the last seven days.

Strikeout Upside

Chris Paddack and Joe Ross.

Ratio Play (High Floor)

Chris Paddack and Jose Quintana.

Win/QS Potential

Chris Paddack and Jose Quintana.

If I Had to Rank The Top Five

  1. Chris Paddack

  2. Jose Quintana

  3. Joe Ross

  4. Keaton Winn

  5. JP Sears

Tuesday 4/23

Streamer of the Day

If James Paxton is out there I would be taking him but he is a little too rostered on Yahoo! for me to roll with him. With that said there are not a lot of good options. I’m going to lean with Jon Gray. His breaking ball seems to be working for him and his 27.9 K-BB% in the last two weeks is impressive.

Strikeout Upside

Jon Gray, Trevor Rogers, Bailey Falter, and Griffin Canning.

Ratio Play (High Floor)

Jon Gray, Wade Miley, Steven Matz, and Trevor Rogers.

Win/QS Potential

Jon Gray.

If I Had to Rank The Top Five

  1. Jon Gray

  2. Trevor Rogers

  3. Grififn Canning

  4. Steven Matz

  5. Wade Miley

Wednesday 4/24

Streamer of the Day

I will continue to roll with Clarke Schmidt as long as I can. His Stuff+ numbers have always been off the charts and his 13.4 SwStr% in the last two weeks is tasteful. Plus he gets Oakland who has one of the lowest LD%.

Strikeout Upside

Clarke Schmidt, Jameson Taillon, and Dane Dunning.

Ratio Play (High Floor)

Clarke Schmidt and Dean Kremer.

Win/QS Potential

Clarke Schmidt, Dean Kremer, and Sean Manaea.

If I Had to Rank The Top Five

  1. Clarke Schmidt

  2. Dean Kremer

  3. Sean Manaea

  4. Jameson Taillon

  5. Dane Dunning

Thursday 4/25

Streamer of the Day

Thursdays are always the toughest for streaming. So few options! My choice would be DL Hall against the Pirates. The Pirates have been ice cold lately offensively with the worst zone contact rate in the last seven days out of any MLB team. Although Hall is a bit scary I do think this is still a solid option.

Strikeout Upside

DL Hall and Graham Ashcraft.

Ratio Play (High Floor)

DL Hall.

Win/QS Potential

DL Hall.

If I Had to Rank The Top Five

  1. DL Hall

  2. Graham Ashcraft

  3. Alex Wood

  4. Jack Leiter

  5. Dakota Hudson

Friday 4/26

Streamer of the Day

I know he got roughed up in his last outing but I am going to be going with Luis Gil still. He takes on the Brewers who are a very capable offense but I still think Gil’s stuff is off the charts. His Stuff+ of 124 is elite. I will gamble on the skill set.

Strikeout Upside

Luis Gil, Jose Butto, and Reese Olson.

Ratio Play (High Floor)

Luis Gil, Martin Perez, and Reese Olson.

Win/QS Potential

Luis Gil, Martine Perez, Jose Butto, and Trevor Williams.

If I Had to Rank The Top Five

  1. Luis Gil

  2. Martin Perez

  3. Reese Olson

  4. Jose Butto

  5. Louie Varland

Saturday 4/27

Streamer of the Day

Casey Mize also has an insane Stuff+ rating as well as a serviceable 3.30 SIERA in the last two weeks. His increased fastball velocity has helped him and while the Royals have been a tough offense they are falling into a little bit of a slump lately.

Strikeout Upside

Casey Mize, JP Sears, and Chris Paddack.

Ratio Play (High Floor)

Casey Mize, Chris Paddack, and Cole Irvin.

Win/QS Potential

Casey Mize, Chris Paddack, and Cole Irvin.

If I Had to Rank The Top Five

  1. Casey Mize

  2. Chris Paddack

  3. JP Sears

  4. Cole Irvin

  5. Michael Lorenzen

Sunday 4/28

Streamer of the Day

Usually, I stay away from the Reds but they aren’t nearly as dangerous on the road and Jon Gray’s slider would be able to fair well against them in Texas. His 27.9 K-BB% in the last two weeks is elite and the Reds do have a measly 64 wRC+ L14.

Strikeout Upside

Jon Gray, Jose Quintana, Jordan Wicks, and Ryan Weathers.

Ratio Play (High Floor)

Jon Gray, Jose Quintana, and Ryan Weathers.

Win/QS Potential

Jon Gray, Jose Quintana, and Ryan Weathers.

If I Had to Rank The Top Five

  1. Jon Gray

  2. Jose Quintana

  3. Ryan Weathers

  4. Jordan Wicks

  5. Patrick Corbin
