Beck's MiLB Threecap: March 28th, 2025
Standout performers from yesterday's Minor League action
Welcome back to the Threecap! I’m excited to bring back (almost) daily recaps of standout MiLB performances on both sides of the ball. Last year, I bit off more than I could chew, but I have a better understanding of the appropriate serving size, and I’ve made a few adjustments to keep myself fresh:
I’m aiming for three posts a week (give or take)
There will be one full writeup on the hitting and pitching side
Priority will be given to prospects with more fantasy intrigue
The viewing guide returns!
I published almost every day last year, totaling 150 articles from March to September. It was easy to keep track of what I was covering, given it was simply the previous day’s action. The date of the article will always reflect the games I’m covering, hence why this is published on 3/29 but titled 3/28.
Alright, enough prelude. Cheers!
Flamin’ Hot Brito.
Juan Brito, 2B, CLE – 3-4, 2B, 3 RBI
Brito was one of the final cuts from my 2025 Top 100 book. He came to Cleveland as part of the Nolan Jones trade in 2022 and turned in strong seasons in back-to-back years, climbing from High-A Lake County to Triple-A Columbus with an .811 cumulative OPS in 2023 and posting an .807 OPS while spending the entire 2024 season with the Clippers. He’s not dissimilar from other up-the-middle defenders littered throughout the system, with strong bat-to-ball and plate discipline markers but middling exits. His hitterish traits were on display in the MiLB opener as he racked up three hits and three RBI, and I suspect he’ll be a common inclusion in top 100 lists when the top crop graduates — unless he does first.
Will Benson, OF, CIN – 5-9, HR, 2 RBI, 3 R
Eloy Jiménez, OF, TBR – 3-6, 2B, 3 RBI, R
Noelvi Marte, 3B, CIN – 3-7, 2 2B, BB, R
Emmanuel Rodriguez, OF, MIN – 3-4, 2B, BB, 2 RBI, R
Carlos Effing Rodriguez.
Carlos F. Rodriguez, RHP, MIL – 5.0 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 7 K
Not to be confused with Carlos D. Rodriguez, a former Brewers farmhand now with the Braves, Carlos F. Rodriguez is an intriguing arm on the cusp of Major League contribution with Milwaukee. He threw 129.2 innings of 4.51 ERA ball with Nashville before debuting for three starts amid a slew of injuries for the big league club in 2024, and he’s in a similar position entering 2025. Milwaukee has just three listed starters on their Roster Resource page (Peralta, Cortes, and Civale), one of whom got historically pummeled on Saturday, leaving plenty of work available until Tobias Myers and Brandon Woodruff return from the injured list. Rodriguez won’t be a league-winner, but for deep leagues and formats that encourage volume, he could be a good scoop in a pinch.
David Festa, RHP, MIN – 5.0 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 4 K
Doug Nikhazy, LHP, CLE – 5.0 IP, 3 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 2 BB, 6 K
Ian Seymour, LHP, TBR – 5.0 IP, 4 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 7 K
Blade Tidwell, RHP, NYM – 5.0 IP, 1 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 5 K
